Grandma's House
My grandma has always been such an amazing feminist icon in my life. At a young age she got married had 8 kids. while helping several men run for office she was voted mother of the year. She was a big part of first Friday art gallery in the park. She was a major inspiration to me as an artist myself.

You'd think after so many years of my heart would be more whole. I'm working on a recent series called "Recipes of Life." This series is based on ideas from memories, I've compiled from my childhood up to adulthood. For those of you who don't know my dad died 15 years ago, but my holes in my heart are filled for now as I work on this still life acting as a portrait of my dad!

Introducing Recipes of Life
"Women are pressured to give the illusion that their lives are perfect or their roles are easy, my work is free of all that. My life is messy, it is hard to keep it together most days. Despite these realities, my life is beautiful. I am finding joy in acceptance. I am finding happiness in the process of the mess." Lilia Todd & Natalie Smith

"I love art so much I strive to make it my career."
Bert Silverman, a well-known portrait artist, said, “A painting has no value unless it tells a story.” To me, no truer words have been spoken. I have a burning desire to capture a story. While starting several different series, I have noticed that they all have one thing in common. I use my artwork as a journal by replicating the stories of people I want to remember forever. I choose to live my life building stories with those I love. The best way I can show my gratitude to my loved ones is by creating those stories. Those stories are what remains passed death. Stories are what gives cultures breath.
